The Triumphant Pentecostal Church, (Apostolic), Inc. was founded and formed in July 1984, by Bishop Tony O. Carter and the General Council of the Congregational Triumphant Pentecostal Churches of the United States in order to express more fully the oneness in Christ of the churches composing it, to make more effective their common witness in him, and to serve His kingdom in the world.

Our founder - Tony O. Carter is the third son born to Elder Gossie and Mother Betty Carter. A native of Mt. Airy, NC, our leader graduated from J.J. Jones High School. A graduate of Livingstone College, our leader holds a B.A. in English. Bishop Carter completed further studies at the following institutions: East Carolina University, Radford University, and the University of Virginia. In Holy Convocation 2000, during the month of July, Bishop Carter was awarded the Doctor of Divinity from Joyland Temple School of the Bible. In his 35th year of public education, our leader was teacher of the year in 1983 (Patrick County, VA) and has been listed in Who's Who in America's Teachers on three occasions - 1994, 1996, and 1998.

Bishop Carter embarked on a spiritual life very early. At the age of 7 he repented of his sins, and accepted water baptism. After a season of seeking and tarrying, he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

On a local level, our leader served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, choir member, choir director, musician, member of almost every department and Stewart. He sang his first solo at the age of 8, "Stand by Me".

22 years of our leader's life were spent in another Apostolic organization, where he served as General Youth President for 14 years and eventually "Bishop " to the Youth Department after accepting his call to the ministry in 1974, ordination ot Elder in 1975, and pastorship in 1977. In 1984, Bishop Carter organized and became founder of The Triumphant Pentecostal Church (Apostolic) Inc. He was consecrated as the first Bishop in the organization in 1986 at the first General Assembly of The Triumphant Church. At present he continues to serve as presiding Prelate. In addition to all of the demands upon his life, he continues to conduct numerous revivals each years. Having preached nationally and internationally, Bishop Carter has proven himself to be a man of integrity and compassion.
